Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis)

Bay leaf helps expel gas and stimulates the liver. The hot tea benefits circulation, is warming to arthritic and rheumatic conditions, and helps dispel phlegm from the head, sinuses, throat, and lungs. The tea also promotes a speedy childbirth and helps bring on suppressed menstruation. To make the tea: Crush three large leaves, simmer for ten minutes in one cup of water, then remove from the heat and steep for about four minutes. Add cinnamon if desired for flavor. Take one cup a day in quarter-cup doses.

Caution: Bay leaf should be avoided by pregnant women.
